Retinal Imaging

At David Clulow we are dedicated to the very highest standard of eye care and this means maintaining the health of your eyes as well as the clarity of your vision. During an eye examination an optometrist routinely studies the interior of your eyes looking for any sign of abnormalities.

Using Retinal Screening, we are now able to actually photograph the interior of your eyes, meaning that we can study your eyes in far more detail. By keeping photographic records we are also able to compare images, year on year, which is extremely useful in detecting any changes. It also enables us to check for Glaucoma, Diabetes, Cataract, Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and other ailments that affect hundreds of thousands of people in the UK.

Retinal Screening is extremely comfortable and simply involves you resting your chin and forehead on pads whilst we take photographs. At no point do we actually touch your eye. This screening process is a significant advancement in the early detection of eye disorders and, like any disorder, the sooner it is detected, the more can be done.

We now offer retinal screening as part of our eye examination and, although there is a small additional charge for this service, it is something we strongly recommend.
