The Position

Dispensing Optician

As a Dispensing Optician, you will deliver outstanding customer service, providing technical advice and guidance to the store team. You’ll work closely with the Laboratory and Optometrists to ensure that the highest standards are maintained and that the eye wear produced is to the correct specifications. Job Scope

As an Optometrist you will work as part of a team delivering total satisfaction to our customers through conducting thorough eye examinations, contact lens assessments and aftercare. You’ll offer our customers recommendations to the highest professional and ethical standards. You will use your knowledge to effectively identify customer needs and recommend eyewear and eye care solutions accordingly. In addition you will act as an ambassador for David Clulow ensuring every customer is welcomed into the store and to ensure their expectations are exceeded throughout the customer experience.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism • Coach assistants to consistently deliver effective selling behaviours resulting in high customer engagement • Communicate with patients to get detailed case histories • Examine eyes of patients of all ages in accordance with the guidelines laid out by the College of Optometrists and the General Optical Council • Use specialist equipment for diagnosis and testing • Issue prescriptions for spectacles or contact lenses • fit and check prescribed lenses in order to correct vision defects • Offer advice and reassurance about vision-related matters • Offer help and advice for patients choosing frames and lenses • Write referral communications to doctors as required in line with legal guidelines • Liaise with other medical practitioners and sometimes share the care of patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions • Meet sales targets with regard to selling spectacles & contact lenses

The Luxottica Retail Optical Apprenticeship is a 12-14 month programme during which you will study towards and achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Retail Optical with our Education partner Oaklands College, alongside the robust in-house Luxottica Training Scheme. The Optical Apprentice is a role assisting the Optometrist and/or Dispensing Optician. You’ll provide information to customers, working alongside the Optometrist, to help them select the best products and services to ensure customers see, look and feel better than they ever thought possible. Secondly, you’ll keep up-to-date with all the various new lines and promotions within your practice, so that you can always provide customers with the most up-to-date information. Finally, you’ll play your part within the team, working together and helping and supporting colleagues to deliver a successful and profitable business.
